Built in the 19th century by the order of Sultan Abdulmecid, it served as the residence of the royal family after Topkapi Palace. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, used it as a presidential palace and passed away here in 1938. Today, Dolmabahce Palace functions as a museum.

Next on the tour is Ciragan Palace. The name "Ciragan" means light, and this secondary palace of the 19th century underwent extensive renovations after a major fire in 1910. Now, it operates as a hotel, leased from the government for 49 years.
