Mahşer-i Cümbüş, the pioneer of modern improvisational theater in Turkey, continues to meet with theater lovers.
Founded in May 2001 by the students of Ankara University, Faculty of Language and History-Geography, Department of Theater, Mahşer-i Cümbüş started its "Theater Sports" performances at Ankara Tenedos Café in September of the same year. Mahşer-i Cümbüş moved to Istanbul in August 2003 and continued its activities in Istanbul. Since its establishment, Mahşer-i Cümbüş has performed in many cities, especially Ankara and Istanbul, and participated in festivals. Mahşer-i Cümbüş, the pioneer of Modern Improvisational Theater in Turkey, introduced "Theater Sports", one of the performance forms of Improvisational Theater, to the audience for the first time in Turkey. In the 5th year of its establishment, it opened its own stage "Mahşer-i Cümbüş Hayalhanesi". The team has performed more than 2000 "Theater Sports" and more than 300 "Brainstorming" shows to date.
Mahşer-i Cümbüş, the pioneer of Modern Improvisational Theater in Turkey, broke new ground in 2007 and brought Turkey's first improvisational show "Instant Video Show" to the screens and a brand new era in Turkish television began.
